How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count the Ways: Caitlyn’s Favorite Men

By Caitlyn Hallman

Name: Robbie Williams

Why He’s Good: a brilliant entertainer and showman extradinaire, he works hard at his career, has succeeded where other former boyband members have failed, and he’s not too shabby as a lyricist

Classic Moment: His very camp ice skating video for ‘She’s The One.’

Attraction Level: 3 out of 5, he does well in terms of looks but he puts it about too much for my tastes

In short: He’s hilarious and absolutely insane.  Being from the States, I never knew Robbie existed until during a high school excursion to Rome I caught his first post-Take That interview on MTV.  He said that cheesy peas were his favorite food and basically run amuck in the studio.  From some reason I was impressed and have been a fan ever since.  Listening to his debut album Life Through a Lens prevented me from going insane during my senior year of high school.

Name: Ewan McGregor

Why He’s Good: a great actor and he can sing and he can dance and he plays the guitar and he races motorcycles

Classic Moment: All of Moulin Rouge

Attraction Level: 5 out of 5, he makes me go gaga

In short: He is undoubtedly the most talented young actor in the business.  Although he has been in a few clunker films, most of his movies have been interesting, intelligent, and a whole lot of fun.  Ewan is the complete package: he’s sensitive and musical, yet dangerous and manly.  I would like to go on, but it would just be a bunch of gibberish loaded with the exclamation, ‘He’s so hot,’ and no one needs to live through that (especially me).

Name: David Gray

Why He’s Good: he’s a brilliant musician and songwriter, and he is very polite

Classic Moment: Upon hearing the roar of applause after playing ‘Babylon’ at his Paris concert June 2001, David humbly said, ‘I can’t believe that’s all for me.  I thought England just won the World Cup or something.’

Attraction Level: 4 ½ out of 5

In short: He’s songs are so good.  I feel like he understands humanity (well, okay, I think he could understand me).  I briefly met him after his Paris concert last year. He was so nice and so polite.  He signed autographs for everyone, posed for pictures, and was very gracious to even the most excitable fan.  We also shared a moment; I thanked him for his beautiful music and he looked into my eyes and thanked me for thanking him.  It took all my control not to burst into tears, grab hold of his leg, and beg him to take me with him and to let me bare his children.

Name: Chris O’Donnell

Why He’s Good: he’s pretty and starred in several decent movies during the mid-90’s

Classic Moment: In a dream I had: it was the Academy Awards and some deranged fan threw a rock that hit Chris in the head.  Luckily I was on the scene and saved his life by applying proper first aid technique to his head wound.  He then declared he’s undying love for me.

Attraction Level: 4 out of 5

In short: Chris was my first true love.  When I was thirteen I saw his picture in YM magazine and I knew that we were meant to be together.  My obsession lasted through out high school, and oddly enough, a few years later I was to met and fall in love with an Irish medical student who bore a stricken resemblance to Mr. O’Donnell (especially Chris in Circle of Friends where he plays an Irish medical student).   That relationship didn’t last, but whenever I am feeling nostalgic about it I just pop my Circle of Friends video in, and it’s like we are together again.

Name: Ross Noble

Ross Noble
Ross Noble

Why He’s Good: is a weird and pretty wonderful comedian

Classic Moment: When he asked the mayor of Warsaw if he liked his hat

Attraction Level: 3 out of 5

In short: He is simply a funny, funny man.  I am not ashamed to say that when I saw Ross live, I almost pissed myself because he was that funny.  I taped the Ross Nobel Goes Global series off of Radio 4, and I listen to it obsessively.  Also, for some reason when something strange or amusing happens to me, I have this desire to tell Ross about it or I wish he was there, so we could find it strange and amusing together.
