From c. 2006 when my work got very ‘graphic’ – doing a lot of silkscreens…

Gladstone, Pierre HALE
These two featured (I believe) Gladstone – for no other reason than the fact that I loved the photograph.
Nando Parrado
Another two oil-on-canvas paintings with silkscreening, but this time the subject was anything but random – Nando Parrado, a survivor of the 1972 plane crash in the Chilean mountains, for whom I’ve had a great deal of admiration since reading ‘Alive’ in ’83.
Nando Parrado
Here are another two paintings of Nando Parrado.

Look on my works ye mighty and despair…

This is interesting… I was looking through old photos from 2010 and saw this – I remember at the time trying to be as counter-intuitive as possible and resisting drawing anything I thought ‘worked’. But seeing to today – I love it!
The most throw-away, absent-minded stuff usually stands better the test of time that stuff you’ve laboured over.
